Read more about me below...
I have worked in the NHS for many years and have always had a passion for health and wellbeing which led me to explore the benefits of Massage therapy. I have also been on a journey of discovery myself having suffered from a long-term health condition (M.E.) since 2005 and having generally been failed by conventional medicine. I turned to alternative health practitioners and I have tried and tested a lot of complementary therapies and experienced the benefits of many of these. As a result, I have over time regained my health and have learnt a lot of invaluable lessons along the way which I wanted to share with others.
In 2011 I obtained a Level 2 award in understanding health improvement, awarded by the Royal society for Public Health. Working as a Workplace Health Champion in a local Community Healthcare organisation I have used these skills to help others take steps to improve their health and wellbeing. I also qualified as a workplace mental health first aider, helping others to find the support they need and empowering people with long term mental health conditions or disability to thrive.
In 2014 I undertook a Level 4 Diploma in Holistic Massage at the Bodyology School of Massage in London having undertaken a taster training session and having become immediately hooked. I was also very interested in the idea of Holistic Massage and treating the body as a whole. Holistic massage is an individual treatment that is specifically tailored to each client and is not a massage by numbers or a one size fits all treatment. A holistic practitioner takes into account a client’s emotional and spiritual wellbeing, as well as their physical body. Massage has so many benefits which sadly are not always catered for or considered by some practitioners so this was an area that I was very interested in and I wanted to help others in experiencing these benefits to improve their health and wellbeing. From this desire and belief Spiritus Massage Therapy was born.
I am accredited to the Massage Training Institute (MTI) which is important to me as I know that their training is externally verified and recognised as being of an extremely high quality as well as being nationally recognised. It also means that I am bound by their code of ethics so you can be sure of the professionalism and integrity of me as a therapist. I am also required to undertake continuing and professional development and have undertaken many hours of further training and development activities to ensure that I am providing the best possible treatments to my clients.
I have undertaken training in and am qualified to provide both corporate and event based seated massage. I’ve had the privilege of delivering seated massage sessions to the hard-working front-line staff within the NHS and deliver both couch based and seated massage at hospitals, clinics, at events and in corporate offices. I also run seated massage workshops for corporate clients training staff to deliver a short 10 - 15 minute seated massage to their colleagues aimed at relieving tension and promoting relaxation.
I am currently undertaking training to deliver Hydrotherm Massage –which I will be offering very shortly and has some amazing benefits that I can’t wait to share with my clients. More to follow!
Whatever your background, your situation or your health and wellbeing needs you can expect a warm welcome and a treatment tailored for you at Spiritus Massage Therapy.
